Honeycrisp Apple
Honeycrisp Apples
Honeycrisp apples are a hybrid of Macoun and Honeygold apples, which arose out of programs from the University of Minnesota (which explains why it is the state fruit of Minnesota). Originally brought to market in 1991, this tasty variety has become prized based on its combination of sweetness, crispness, and juiciness.
Honeycrisp apples are rapidly gaining in popularity because of their prized taste and texture, and they usually command a higher price in the marketplace. In Washington State, Honeycrisp apple production amounts to about 15% of the total market share of all apple varieties.
